LEAKING PAST

Have your past ever come back to hunt you? Have you always thought you'd get away with something awful only to be revisited by it several years later? Read on cause this poem is for you

                                   LEAKING PAST
I thought it was over, I thought it was gone
I thought I had slipped out of the gates of my then created thorns
I thought you’ve disappeared and got carried away by the whirl wind
All traces of you I struggled to terminate
You bade me goodbye and declared cease-fire
But just yesterday at the wedding altar
In the presence of the congregation and my lover
You stormed the chapel with rank loaded guns
Like a smart bomb you smacked me
Shot me from every leading angle with no intention of leaving me for dead
Had me bagged in chains and lead me out like an exasperated felon
10 years ago it transpired
10 years ago you wrecked me
10 years you were surreptitious and I alone looked at myself with condescension
10 years ago I was a murderer
Unintentional it was
A stone throw on a stone throw
And that young lad got hit on the long run while I hid my face and took to my heels in sorrows
Yes it was his fate but mine has caught up with me
Who am I to think of having that ecstatic life when you exist?
I consent to whatever comes to me from here on even in my white veil of shame and humiliation
Now I know who controls the world
Her name is karma!
